Dexamethasone Suppression Test

The Dexamethasone Suppression Test assesses adrenal gland function by measuring how cortisol levels respond after taking dexamethasone, helping diagnose conditions like Cushing's syndrome.

Instructions:

  1. You will need to make an appointment for this test.
  2. No preparation or fasting required.
  3. This test is performed on two separate days.
  4. Day 1 – A blood sample will be collected between 8:00am and 9:00am prior to taking the Dexamethasone tablets.
  5. You will be asked to take two Dexamethasone tablets, with 1 glass of water at 11:00 pm of Day 1.
  6. Day 2 – Return to the Collection Centre between 8:00 and 9:00 am to have a second blood sample collected.
  7. This completes the test.
