Biography
Dr Neil Catterall is a graduate of the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg and did his pathology training at the South African Institute for Medical Research. During his training he also completed a 2 year post graduate diploma in occupational medicine specialising in pneumoconiosis. After 2 years as a junior lecturer at the Natal Medical School and 10 years in private practice in Durban, South Africa he emigrated to Australia where he has concentrated on dermatopathology, attending courses at St John’s Institute of Dermatology in London, The Ackerman Academy in New York and AFIP in Washington. He has been a long-time attendee and presenter at the clinical dermatology monthly meetings at the Royal Newcastle Hospital. He retains membership of the International Academy of Pathology. Dr Catterall has a Graduate Certificate in IT and is an active contributor to the burgeoning social media sites for dermatopathologists.
