Biography

  • 1989: Graduated from University College and Middlesex Hospital Medical School, University of London, UK (MBBS)
  • 1989-1991: Junior medical officer in the UK and Perth
  • 1992-1997: Vocational training in microbiology at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and Royal Perth Hospital, WA, and later at IMVS and the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Adelaide, SA
  • 1997: Awarded MSc (Virology and Mycology) from the University of Adelaide
  • 1997: Admitted to Fellowship of Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia
  • 1999: Post-fellowship training at ICPMR, Westmead Hospital
  • 1999: Practised in Sexual Health Clinic
  • 1999: Deputy editor, Medical Journal of Australia
  • 2000: Clinical Microbiologist, Laverty Pathology
  • 2003 - Current: Appointed to position of Head of Department, Microbiology, Laverty Pathology
  • Dr Holland is responsible for supervision of microbiology staff to ensure accuracy and quality of results; she liaises with referring physicians to communicate significant findings
